"Temperature anomalies also exist in Greenland, the largest ice sheet in the Northern Hemisphere, with cooling in the interior concurrent with warming at the coast.

Peter Doran, of the University of Illinois at Chicago, the lead author of the paper, and his co-authors, acknowledge that other studies conducted in Antarctica have deduced a warming trend elsewhere in the continent. But they note that the data indicate that the warming occurred between 1958 and 1978. They also note that the previous claims that Antarctic is warming may have been skewed because the measurements were taken largely on the Antarctic Peninsula, which extends northwards toward South America. The Peninsula itself is warming dramatically, the authors note, and there are many more weather stations on the peninsula than elsewhere on the continent.

Averaging the temperature readings from the more numerous stations on the Peninsula has led to the misleading conclusion that there is a net warming continent-wide. "Our approach shows that if you remove the Peninsula from the dataset, and look at the spatial trend. The majority of the continent is cooling," said Doran."

You can see from the above report that scientists and politicians seeking to brainwash citizens use the data only from the peninsulas in Antarctica and Greenland.

Scientific History of Recent Temperature Variations on Earth

Extrapolation is a mathematical technique whereby past historical events are projected into the future. This technique is very useful in the sciences and engineering. However, extrapolation is dangerous and not valid when the historical data is cyclic, and when short-term historical data is projected long term. Global warming advocates have fallen for this trap. They are projecting selected short-term historical data into broad long-term projections. Many people lost 70% of their retirement savings plan in the 2000 US stock market crash because they were using a short-term trend to justify their long-term market position. US Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan warned investors in 1998 that the market was showing signs of irrational exuberance. Well, the current global warming hype is definitely showing signs of irrational exuberance, and the global warming advocates will also be proven wrong.

The mayor of Denver, Colorado, USA announced on January 30, 2007 that the unprecedented harsh winter weather that began on December 20, 2006, continues to prevent the city from plowing the accumulated snow and ice from the city streets. The city is spending one million dollars per week, has expended all of the street deicing chemical (magnesium chloride) and must resort to using the less desirable salt and sand. The mayor said the current frigid conditions are nearing the all-time record for the period. Snowy streets that normally thaw in three or four days remained covered with ice and snow for 50 days. The official snow cover measurement lasted for 61 days. Denver was just three days shy of setting a new all-time record. Denver recorded snow on the ground from Dec. 21, 2006 through Feb. 19, 2007. This doesn't sound like global warming.

A very small amount of global warming has occurred since 1930, but it matches perfectly the increase in solar activity (solar flares or sunspots). The Earth was slightly cooler between 1400 and 1700 AD. Historical records show that solar flares or sunspots were very low during that period and almost nonexistent in the 1700s. Solar activity picked up sharply in 1930 and continues strongly today. Sunspot activity has reached a new 8,000-year high.

The major story on December 1, 2006 was not about the polar bear trapped on the ice floe. It was about people in Chicago being trapped in a major winter blizzard. More than 400 flights were cancelled at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and 2.4 million people were without power. Ice was everywhere. Trees were collapsing under the ice load and taking down power lines. Schools were closed. In February 2007 they were hit again with record low temperatures being set in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota.

The temperature of the earth is determined strictly by the amount of energy obtained from sunshine. The activities of mankind have absolutely nothing to do with global temperatures. The tilt of the earth on its axis determines how the solar energy is distributed. This tilt causes the seasons. The ocean currents also transfer heat from near the equator to the polar regions.

"Claims that man-made pollution is causing "unprecedented" global warming have been seriously undermined by new research which shows that the Earth was warmer during the Middle Ages.

From the outset of the global warming debate in the late 1980s, environmentalists have said that temperatures are rising higher and faster than ever before, leading some scientists to conclude that greenhouse gases from cars and power stations are causing these "record-breaking" global temperatures. This announcement followed research published in 1998, when scientists at the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia declared that the 1990s had been hotter than any other period for 1,000 years.

Such claims have now been sharply contradicted by the most comprehensive study yet of global temperature over the past 1,000 years. A review of more than 240 scientific studies has shown that today's temperatures are neither the warmest over the past millennium, nor are they producing the most extreme weather - in stark contrast to the claims of the environmentalists.

The review, carried out by a team from Harvard University, examined the findings of studies of so-called "temperature proxies" such as tree rings, ice cores and historical accounts which allow scientists to estimate temperatures prevailing at sites around the world.

The findings prove that the world experienced a Medieval Warm Period between the ninth and 14th centuries with global temperatures significantly higher even than today.

They also confirm claims that a Little Ice Age set in around 1300, during which the world cooled dramatically. Since 1900, the world has begun to warm up again - but has still to reach the balmy temperatures of the Middle Ages. The timing of the end of the Little Ice Age is especially significant, as it implies that the records used by climate scientists date from a time when the Earth was relatively cold, thereby exaggerating the significance of today's temperature rise. According to the researchers, the evidence confirms suspicions that today's "unprecedented" temperatures are simply the result of examining temperature change over too short a period of time.

The study, about to be published in the journal Energy and Environment, has been welcomed by sceptics of global warming, who say it puts the claims of environmentalists in proper context. Until now, suggestions that the Middle Ages were as warm as the 21st century had been largely anecdotal and were often challenged by believers in man-made global warming.

Dr Philip Stott, the professor emeritus of bio-geography at the University of London, told The Telegraph: "What has been forgotten in all the discussion about global warming is a proper sense of history."

According to Prof Stott, the evidence also undermines doom-laden predictions about the effect of higher global temperatures. "During the Medieval Warm Period, the world was warmer even than today, and history shows that it was a wonderful period of plenty for everyone."

In contrast, said Prof Stott, severe famines and economic collapse followed the onset of the Little Ice Age around 1300. He said: "When the temperature started to drop, harvests failed and England's vine industry died. It makes one wonder why there is so much fear of warmth."

The United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the official voice of global warming research, has conceded the possibility that today's "record-breaking" temperatures may be at least partly caused by the Earth recovering from a relatively cold period in recent history. While the evidence for entirely natural changes in the Earth's temperature continues to grow, its causes still remain mysterious.

Dr Simon Brown, the climate extremes research manager at the Meteorological Office at Bracknell, said that the present consensus among scientists on the IPCC was that the Medieval Warm Period could not be used to judge the significance of existing warming.

Dr Brown said: "The conclusion that 20th century warming is not unusual relies on the assertion that the Medieval Warm Period was a global phenomenon. This is not the conclusion of IPCC."

He added that there were also doubts about the reliability of temperature proxies such as tree rings: "They are not able to capture the recent warming of the last 50 years," he said."

Grand Forks, ND set it's all time record low of -44 deg. below zero F, Fosston, MN also at -50 deg. below zero F and Saskatchewan, Canada saw minimum temperatures fall to -62 deg. below zero F, all in Winter 2003-2004."

Radiosonde balloon launches show no temperature change between 1960-2004. Antarctica has been cooling at the rate of 1.4 deg. F per every ten years for the past 20 years. Also between 1895 and 2004 January average temperature in Florida has fallen approximately 1 deg. F. Also glaciers in Greenland and Antarctica are expanding. How can that possibly be if harmful man induced climate change (global warming) is occurring???"

"Unlike the surface-based temperatures, global temperature measurements of the Earth's lower atmosphere obtained from satellites reveal no definitive warming trend over the past two decades. The slight trend that is in the data actually appears to be downward. Ice Ages and Thermohaline Circulations in the Oceans

The thermal temperature of the Earth is presently at or near the 8,000-year maximum. To project ever-rising temperatures beyond this record is irrational. Ice ages are a normal Earth occurrence, not hyper-thermal greenhouse warming. The present ocean currents called thermohaline circulations are preventing the Earth from returning to another ice age. The past ice age was only 12,000 years ago and there were numerous cyclic ice ages before that. Click the image to see an enlargement.

The major thermohaline circulations in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans are keeping the North and South Poles considerably warmer than would be expected without these ocean currents. The thermohaline circulations move massive amounts of heat from the equator to the poles. Without these currents the earth would plunge instantly into another ice age.

Apparently the thermohaline circulations in the oceans have started and stopped numerous times in the past. When the current subsides an ice age begins. As the current starts again the ice age subsides, and the warming period begins. During an ice age the heat at the equator warms and evaporates water that is carried as clouds to the poles where it falls as snow. The oceans at the equator actually become hotter during an ice age and colder during a warming period because of the thermohaline circulations of the oceans. During the last ice age 20,000 years ago a solid ice cap covered all of Canada with a glacier flowing down the Hudson River valley to the ocean at New York City.

The cycling between ice ages and warming periods each last for a period of time roughly between 75,000 years and 200,000 years. We are now about 12,000 years into the current warming period. Therefore, another ice age is most likely 60,000 to 200,000 years into the future. Meanwhile, the warming period does not continue to get hotter and hotter as so many people claim. Scientific research of past warming cycles do not show earth's temperature above the present. We have reached the plateau period where climate of the earth will remain very stable for thousands of years. If you like a house on the beach, buy it. The oceans will never rise to effect your property value. The beach will still be the same beautiful beach when your great-great-great grandchildren go swimming.

The Kyoto initiatives to save the planet from the greenhouse effect should be put off until better times,� he said, referring to an international treaty on climate change targeting greenhouse gas emissions.

The global temperature maximum has been reached on Earth, and Earth�s global temperature will decline to a climatic minimum even without the Kyoto protocol,� Abdusamatov said.

Coral heads and Sargasso Sea sediments also leave Carbon 14 and Oxygen 18 clues to the past temperature of the earth. Excerpt: I will demonstrate that the Sun drives climate, and use that demonstrated relationship to predict the Earth’s climate to 2030. It is a prediction that differs from most in the public domain. It is a prediction of imminent cooling. […]I will show that increased atmospheric carbon dioxide is not even a little bit bad. It is wholly beneficial. Dr Hansen’s statement that the maximum safe level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is 350 ppm begs the question of what the actual ideal level is. I have taken the 1,000 ppm figure from the level that commercial greenhouse operators prefer to run their greenhouses at. The ability to grow food is going to be the overriding concern next decade. Regarding that 1,000 ppm level, we will never get there. Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have been much higher in the geological past. But most of that carbon is now bound up in the Earth’s sediments where we can’t get to it. Half of the carbon dioxide we are producing now is being gobbled up by the oceans, in soils and in the Russian tundra. At best, we might get to about 600 ppm. What I have shown in this presentation is that carbon dioxide is largely irrelevant to the Earth’s climate. The carbon dioxide that Mankind will put into the atmosphere over the next few hundred years will offset a couple of millenia of post-Holocene Optimum cooling before we plunge into the next ice age. And they're worried about global cooling, not warming. Kenneth Tapping, a solar researcher and project director for Canada's National Research Council, is among those looking at the sun for evidence of an increase in sunspot activity. Solar activity fluctuates in an 11-year cycle. But so far in this cycle, the sun has been disturbingly quiet. The lack of increased activity could signal the beginning of what is known as a Maunder Minimum, an event which occurs every couple of centuries and can last as long as a century. Such an event occurred in the 17th century. The observation of sunspots showed extraordinarily low levels of magnetism on the sun, with little or no 11-year cycle. This solar hibernation corresponded with a period of bitter cold that began around 1650 and lasted, with intermittent spikes of warming, until 1715. Frigid winters and cold summers during that period led to massive crop failures, famine and death in Northern Europe. Tapping reports no change in the sun's magnetic field so far this cycle and warns that if the sun remains quiet for another year or two, it may indicate a repeat of that period of drastic cooling of the Earth, bringing massive snowfall and severe weather to the Northern Hemisphere.

The Science of Global Warming in Perspective

Basic principles of science determine this subject, not fake numbers by motive-driven authorities. Their starting point is so preposterous that no amount of lying fixes their numbers.

There is no scientifically valid mechanism for carbon dioxide creating global warming. There is a shortage of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, because alkaline oceans absorb it and only release a small amount, while coral reefs tie it up as calcium carbonate. Only 0.04% of the atmosphere is CO2. When an ice age begins, global Warming occurs exactly as it is doing now. Heated oceans cause increased evaporation followed by precipitation. Study shows oceans are the cause of temperature increase. There is no valid mechanism for carbon dioxide creating global warming "Greenhouse gases" absorb all radiation available to them in a few meters (Heinz Hug). The limiting factor is in the radiation, not the greenhouse gases. More of the gas cannot absorb more radiation. A thick sheet of plastic does nothing more than a thin sheet. The dramatic cool-down, first around the Antarctic, and then around the Arctic, over the past year is more evidence that ocean currents are controlling the result. Warm water flowing over the Bering Strait appears to have changed the direction of ocean currents, first diverting warm water away from the Southern Hemisphere, and then melting Arctic ice like a giant ice cube. After the Artic ice is gone (maybe five years), oceans should resume an increase in temperature.
Melting Arctic ice over the past year apparently caused a lot of precipitation to form, which would release heat into the atmosphere to be emitted into space. This means a large amount of global heat loss may have occurred.

Antarctic Ocean Cooling — at Nature
The real cause of global warming could be an increase in solar energy, as critics generally claim; but there is evidence that it is due to variations in heat from the earth's core. Ice ages are caused by oceans heating, which appears to result from increased heat from inside the earth. The primary evidence is the exact cycling of ice ages. Environmental factors would not be so precise. Also, the oceans heating more than the atmosphere points to the heat coming from inside the earth. Ice over oceans is melting much faster than expected. The reason is because the oceans are heating, not the atmosphere. Heated oceans can melt ice rapidly, while heated air cannot. Ninety percent of ice is below the surface—exposed to water, not air—and water has the heat capacity needed for melting. The recent cool-down is consistent with oceans heating, because ocean currents are highly erratic and unexplainable, as an El Nino demonstrates, and they create odd microclimates in the atmosphere.

New Concept
The melting of Arctic ice, which is now occurring, will cause increased evaporation from Arctic ocean water and precipitation as snowfall in northern areas. This process could be the trigger mechanism for an ice age. Increased snowfall will reflect away more sunlight resulting in a global cool-down.

23. Species dying and disease? The temperature gets 0.6°C colder about every 50 miles further north. If it wasn't a catastrophe 50 miles south, then it is not a catastrophe now. Society is being overrun by antibiotic resistant diseases due to incompetence and fraud. To not fix that problem first is to have ulterior motives.

24. Mindless persons (including the Supreme Court) assume carbon dioxide must be the equivalent of auto exhaust pollution. CO2 is no more of a pollutant than water is (and less of a greenhouse gas). It has been an essential part of biology for as long as biology has existed.

25. Some jerks are putting iron in the oceans trying to cool the planet. Their first experiment seemed to work, so now they are putting more in. They aren't asking anyone, and there is no getting it back out when the oceans turn to slime.

The public has a responsibility in determining whether social realities are based on rationality or fraud. There are highly visible differences. Rationality doesn't look anything like fraud. Rationality includes explanations and evidence. Fraud is forced down peoples' throats without explanations or evidence based on a fake consensus, which is nothing but mob rule.

Oceans are Warming

Oceans are too complex and heterogeneous to determine averages, but nature shows the net effect. There are two points of evidence indicating that oceans are warming: One is that precipitation is increasing, which means increased evaporation from warmer oceans; and the other is that ice is melting over oceans more than over land. The oceans have a heat capacity 1,000 times that of the atmosphere. This means the air cannot easily heat the oceans, but oceans can easily heat the air. The atmosphere would have to heat a lot, before it could heat the oceans a little; yet the opposite is occurring. The atmosphere is only said to have warmed 0.6°C in recent times. The ice which is suspended over the oceans is 90% submerged. To melt it, the water has to provide the heat, not the air. Not only is the water surrounding 90% of the ice, but water has the heat capacity needed to transfer a large amount of heat, while air has little heat capacity. Ice is obviously melting rapidly at both north and south poles, but primarily over oceans. In localized areas, there is warming over land which is melting showpiece glaciers and northern tundra. But where it really matters, over the Antarctica land mass, ice is thickening. Over Greenland, both thickening and thinning of ice is occurring, but Greenland is small, and it's climate is influenced by an ocean current called the Gulf Stream. (Over the past couple of years, the whole southern hemisphere has been cooling due to ocean currents shifting. Antarctic ice is re-accumulating, even over oceans around Antarctica, while the Arctic is melting rapidly.) The ultimate test of whether the oceans or atmosphere is heating more is precipitation, and it is increasing. If the atmosphere were heating more than the oceans, there would be less precipitation, because warmer air holds more moisture. If the oceans are heating more than the air, more precipitation occurs, because evaporation increases, while there is less change in the amount of moisture the air will hold.

If the atmosphere heats more than the oceans, precipitation decreases. If oceans heat more than the atmosphere, precipitation increases.

Because of the increase in precipitation, ice is thickening over land at Antarctica and Greenland, as shown by satellites which use radar to measure thickness of ice. (Details and references are on Oceans Page).

Recently, Arctic ice has been rapidly melting, but this is submerged ice melting due to warm ocean water flowing over the Bering Strait. Here's a related oddity. Scientists cannot figure out why the Great Lakes are losing so much water. An indication is the large amount of snowfall around them during the winters. The Lakes are apparently heating up just as the oceans are, and they are evaporating away. Ocean levels are increasing due to expansion from warming, but the increase over the past four years is twice as much as scientists can account for. This is another indication of the heat coming from the earth's core, which would cause more heat to accumulate in the deep oceans than scientists are aware of.

Ice Ages

The present global warming is part of a natural ice age cycle. It's what always happens at the beginning of an ice age. Ice ages cycle at precise 100 thousand year intervals. The next one is scheduled to begin now. The temperature reversal will begin between 100 and 200 years from now. The time can be determined from the amount of precipitation. Cold temperatures alone cannot create an ice age. There has to be more snow than can melt during the summer to create an accumulation of ice. There is not enough moisture in the air at this time to do that. But it's increasing. There should be enough precipitation in a century or two to produce more snow than can melt during the summers in low enough latitudes to reflect away enough solar energy to trigger an irreversible cool-down. The amount of moisture in the air is increasing because oceans are warming. The warming of oceans is observable in the amount of ice melting at the poles. Measurement of long term trends show ocean temperatures to be peaking at a level where ice age reversals begin. Such precise cycling of temperatures cannot be caused by environmental factors such as greenhouse gases, because there would be too many variations. The variations would be like trying to use the clouds for a calendar. The cause of ice ages must be some force which overrides environmental influences. Two possible sources are cyclic variation in solar energy and motion of a hot spot in the earth's core. An underlying factor is that ice age cycles correlate with a variable in the earth's orbit. Orbital influences could explain either variations in solar energy or motion of a hot spot in the earth's core. No one has been able to clearly identify a factor in the orbit of the earth which would increase solar intensity in a way which correlates with ice age cycles, not the least reason being that there is a huge amount of complexity in several variables in the orbit of the earth. There are additional problems in explaining ice age cycles in terms of solar intensity. There are many environmental factors which interact with solar energy creating variations in the result. But it's not impossible that solar variations could override all environmental complexities and create the ice age cycles as shown on the graph. There is however a clearer impression that the oceans are being heated from within the earth's core. The main factor creating this impression, besides total immunity of the cycles to environmental influences, is that all other changes show clear evidence of following the ocean temperature increases rather than responding to some other influence. The most significant factor is that precipitation is increasing. Areas where weather patterns indicate warming are all microclimates resulting from nearby oceans being warmer. The most obvious example of this is Greenland and parts of Europe, which are warmed by the Gulf Stream. North America is showing milder winters due to less ice around Alaska, where the winter air often comes from. But satellite measurements show little warming in evaluating total global conditions. Global warming is occurring, but it's not the frying pan situation that it is portrayed as. Movement of a hot spot in the earth's core could correlate with changes in the earth's orbit. The central core of the earth could be pulled farther south due to gravitational effects, and this would heat the oceans more, since there is less land area in the southern hemisphere. Heat constantly migrates from the core of the earth to the surface. This heat keeps lakes from freezing solid, after ice forms on the surface. It keeps the ground from freezing more than six feet deep in the winter. It causes deep well water to be hot, which can sometimes be used for geothermal heating. Therefore, the cause of global warming could be oceans increasing in temperature due to increased heat flowing from the earth's core. The increased heat could be due to a hot spot which rotates in the molten fluid within the earth. As it rotates, it could get closer to the surface in an area where the heat can diffuse into the oceans. Or it could be the central core being pulled closer to the surface due to gravitational forces in the solar system related to changes in the earth's orbit. The central core of the earth is highly dense, consisting largely of iron, which would cause it to respond to gravitational forces. Magnetic north constantly migrates demonstrating that masses move around in the molten fluid within the earth. There is new evidence for the earth's core heating based on variations in the earth's magnetic field. There is about a six year lag for "global warming" correlating with the amount of time required for the heat to conduct through the mantle. A new submarine for measuring the temperature of deep oceans found more heat than expected on its first measurement. Deep ocean heat points to the heat coming from the earth's core. Deep Ocean Heat Measured - (external) A related point is that expansion of the oceans from heating is twice as much as expected, with no explanation. The best explanation is that the deep oceans are hotter than expected due to heat coming from the earth's core.

Some Data

"Total human CO2 emissions primarily from use of coal, oil, and natural gas and the production of cement are currently about 5.5 GT C per year (giga tons of carbon per year). A recent update says 8.6 GT, which probably includes the usual stretching.

To put these figures in perspective, it is estimated that the atmosphere contains 750 GT C; the surface ocean contains 1,000 GT C; vegetation, soils, and detritus contain 2,200 GT C; and the intermediate and deep oceans contain 38,000 GT C. Each year, the surface ocean and atmosphere exchange an estimated 90 GT C; vegetation and the atmosphere, 60 GT C; marine biota and the surface ocean, 50 GT C; and the surface ocean and the intermediate and deep oceans, 100 GT C." Notice that the oceans exchange ten times as much carbon with the atmosphere as humans produce (90GT vs. 8.6 GT). Exchange means regulation. And humans only add 1% as much CO2 to the atmosphere per year as already in it. If such a miniscule amount were as critical as propagandists claim, all life would have been destroyed long ago. Nature hasn't been sitting on a 1% knife edge for millions of years.

Concerns have been expressed since the late 1960s that oil development on the north slope of Alaska would have significant negative impacts on caribou of the Central Arctic Herd (CAH). Since 1992 we have conducted systematic aerial surveys of the Prudhoe Bay and adjacent oil fields during calving and post-calving periods to determine the distribution and status of caribou in relation to oil field infrastructure. We have also compared the population dynamics of CAH caribou with those from other north slope caribou herds which have not been exposed to oil development to determine if the CAH was impacted by oil development at the population level. Caribou from the CAH migrate north each spring from the Brooks Mountain Range to calving grounds and summer range on the coastal plain of Alaska between the Canning and Colville Rivers. Spring and summer habitats include the oil fields in the Prudhoe Bay region. Calving typically occurs from late May to mid-June in relatively dry habitats from the coastline to 100 miles inland, the location varying with weather and snow-melt characteristics. A large portion of the herd calves in and near the Kuparuk and Milne Point oil fields. During the post-calving period, mid-June to mid-August, caribou move into and through the Prudhoe Bay Oil Field. On warm days, the animals tend to congregate on the Beaufort Sea coast where wind provides relief from mosquitoes. On cool days they move inland and often forage in the oil fields. While in the oil fields they frequently occur on gravel pads and roads, where there are fewer mosquitoes than on tundra; they also rest in the shade provided by elevated pipelines, well houses, and other buildings to escape parasitic oestrid flies.

The effects of oil development on caribou movements and population dynamics are being investigated at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. The Central Arctic Caribou Herd increased from about 5,000 animals shortly after oil development commenced in the 1970s to about 23,000 in 1992; the latest (1997) census by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game disclosed about 20,000. Size trends and demographics of the herd in the last few decades have been similar to those of the other 3 herds on Alaska�s arctic slope, which have distributional ranges that are not in oil-field areas. Several mitigation measures such as elevating pipelines to allow caribou to pass beneath them, prohibiting hunting in the oil fields, and providing caribou the right-of-way on roads have reduced the potential for caribou to be adversely affected by oil fields. Except for a tendency for cows with newborn calves to distance themselves from human activity, caribou appear to tolerate the oil fields, and may even benefit because of protection from hunting and from the insect relief provided by gravel pads and buildings. Past speculations that oil fields would reduce herd productivity or numbers have not been supported by data on caribou demography, distribution, and abundance. Existing oil fields are used extensively by caribou, partly because of mitigative measures incorporated into oil-field design, and future advances in oil-field technology may further reduce the risk of adverse impact.
